Thought and consciousness together are a powerful combo of life experience. They are invisible powers but their effects are seen everywhere.  I don’t want to diminish their power so here is another personal story to illustrate.

My husband has two grown children that he doesn’t see much.  But when it comes to Father’s Day he always hears from his son – a card, a phone call and although he doesn’t pay a great deal of attention to so called occasions of this sort, I on the other hand, have thinking about it that I equate with love and understanding.  So this year, as I do every year, I get a card and a gift for him to commemorate the fact that being a father is something to celebrate.  My own father is gone now but I never missed Father’s Day no matter how far away I was.

So, this year I was all set and the Sunday arrived – but the day passed without a call from my husband’s son – and no card arrived in the mail.  At first, I was just surprised – then that moved to sad and from there a full on tantrum in my head about thoughtlessness etc.  By Monday, I was ready to call my husband’s son and give him a piece of my mind.

Somehow, I hesitated perhaps with some vague notion I might make it worse.  I was sitting in my car doing some work on my calendar when I noticed that Father’s Day was NOT the day before but the next Sunday.  I instantly understood why they were still running radio and TV ads for gifts, and a profound sense of relief that I had NOT called my husband’s son…followed by some serious laughter.

Once again, I had been hoodwinked by my thoughts and my consciousness (a good servant) had brought the whole thing to life for me.  This is no small power – and the reason why everyone needs to know how the mind works, so as not to be hijacked into a family incident. (whew).

What was it that made me hesitate to call – I think it was that innate wisdom which has saved me so many times before – and I was aware enough to follow its guidance.  You can as well.

Until next Friday…….
